Art Looks for IQ. Artists of Wrocław

2 July  20 2016

National Forum of Music, Pl. Wolności 1

In the period of globalisation and unification, the artists define the places in which their live and create anew, thus giving them a new identity. The characteristic creative atmosphere of Wrocław breaks the progressive unification and leads us to think that the genius loci of the city manifests itself the best in the creations by artists, who have been working here for seven decades.

The exhibition will attest to the fact that good art has to be intelligent, and that it is worth to use it to promote the image and future of the cities. Some of the works presented on the exhibition come from private collections, other came straight from artists’ workshop. There are also some works created specifically for the exhibition. The organisers aim for the presentation of works by local artists who for decades have been marking their presence on the cultural map of the country, as well as works of the young generations of artists, distinguished by their talent and achievements.

20.08.2016, 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Polaroid and transfer
Polaroid is one of the most exceptional techniques in photography ever created. It can be said that it was announcing the consequences of the digital revolution. Instant photographs, visible right after taking them helped the photographers in their everyday work, but they also very quickly became a new medium for the artists, who treated those small plastic prints as a method to show their concept or simply everyday life. Very quickly it was also found that it is possible to modify the already made photographs by removing emulsion from the print and moving them to another piece. This process is called a transfer. During the workshops, we want to encourage the participants to look at the works, presented during the exhibition through the prism of the Polaroid, and then modify their own photographs by transferring.
The workshop is intended for a group of 10-15 children aged 6-14, registration:  barbarasniegula@gmail.com
