EFA: evening with Jean-Claude Carrière and the screening of Danton

Jean-Claud Carrière is an outstanding French writer, playwright, screenwriter, author of song lyrics and actor. On Saturday, December 10 he is going to receive the European Film Award at the National Forum of Music. A day before, he is going to meet his fans at the New Horizons Art House Cinema before the screening of two films.

We are going to watch the Oscar-winning Heureux anniversaire (1962), filmed together with Pierre Étaix and Danton by Andrzej Wajda, with screenplay written by Carrière. Carrière’s work is impressive and diverse. He works for cinema, theatre and television, he writes books and draws. As an aspiring writer at the turn of the 50s and 60s, he met two outstanding creators of French comedy – Jacques Tati and Pierre Étaix – director, actor, comedian, graphic artist and clown. With the latter – who died in October this year – Carrière filmed many short and feature-length films. Soon after, the director also started collaborating with directors such as Luis Buñuel, Miloš Forman, Peter Brook, Volker Schlöndorff and Jean-Luc Godard, and he wrote screenplays for some of their most famous works. In some cases, the collaboration lasted for many years.

During the meeting, simultaneous interpretation from English to Polish will be provided for the audience.
