Festiwal Brunona Schulza at weekend

On Saturday, we are going to see the last day of the session devoted to Stanisław Barańczak. We will also put magnets with quotes from classics on cars – join us at Renoma car park for the Literary Pit Stop. The majority of today’s events will take place at the Ossolineum, so that you will be able to get a much needed break after the activities of the last day. However, we are starting at noon.

We are going to start with a panel titled The Unholy Cioran – melancholic and martyr? conducted by Łukasz Galusek. The figure of Emil Cioran, a classic Romanian writer of the 20th century melancholy, who published in French will be analysed and picked apart by his Polish translators: Marek Bieńczyk and Ireneusz Kania, along with Nicolas Cavaillѐs – French expert on Cioran’s art and writer, laureate of the Prix Gouncourt for a short story.

Then, Wojciech Karpiński and Andrzej S. Kowalczyk will discuss Henryk Krzeczkowski – translator, essayist and a legendary figure, distinguished for the Polish intellectual life after 1956. The meeting will be conducted by Paweł Rodak.

In the evening, we will finally learn the name of the Angelus Central European Literary Award laureate! The award ceremony will take place at the Capitol Music Theatre. If you cannot come to the ceremony, do not worry, we are going to tell you the name of the winner as soon as the Jury (Mykoła Riabczuk, Stanisław Bereś, Piotr Kępiński, Tomasz Łubieński, Krzysztof Masłoń, Michał Nogaś, Justyna Sobolewska, Mirosław Spychalski) decides. (Admission with invitations only).

On next Sunday, join us for a wicked journey into the magical world of Brunon Schulz, where nothing is what it seems to be. Mannequins, forgotten backyards, crazy situations and constant struggle against time... You can expect this – and much more – on the last day of the festival. Prizes are waiting for the best.
