The Geppert Competition

14 October – 11 December 2016
Competition Exhibition: BWA Wrocław-Galerie Sztuki Współczesnej ul. Wita Stwosza 32

Competition Sympozium: Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Eugeniusza Gepperta
The Geppert Competition is a cyclical musical event open to young painters. Its main objective is to present a comprehensive overview of current developments in the field of painting in Poland as well as to promote debuting painters. The competition has been held uninterruptedly since 1989 and presently belongs to the important review of young painters in Poland.

The uniqueness of the Geppert Competition is determined by an exclusive character of admissions, which not only limits the list of entrants to debutants but also restricts entry to the selection by nominations (presented during the competition symposium). Therefore, the competition is very often a ground breaking moment of epiphany accompanying  the righteousness of these debutants career decisions and encourage them to inevitably search for another way of developing their methods in the future for ultimate progression.
Commencing from 2016, the organizers will attempt to further improve and globalize the competition as well as slightly changing its format.  Thus far, this event has been held on a biennial basis, yet the next year the edition will be held on triennial basis.
Curators:  ad. Marta Borgosz (ASP), Alicja Klimczak-Dobrzaniecka (BWA Wrocław)
