We know the dates of the 53rd Jazz on the Odra Festival!

We already know the date of this year’s edition of the Jazz on the Odra Festival. The 53rd edition of one of the oldest Polish jazz festivals will take place on Impart stages on April 26-30.

Each spring the festival, which has been organised since 1964, presents the most interesting jazz artists from around the world. Over the years, we saw some of the greatest jazz stars from Europe and around the world, including Pat Metheny, Paco deLucia, Al Di Meola, Kenny Garret and Dave Holland. Additionally, the audiences could see and listen to some of the most promising musicians of the young generation, including young stars picked by the American DownBeat magazine. To date, we saw The Bad Plus, Jason Moran, Vijar Iyer and many others. Jazz on the Odra Festival is one of the events on the Polish scene that you should never miss, at least according to the readers of Jazz Forum magazine, which has been praising the festival in Wrocław for years as the best jazz event in the country.

The Jazz Personality Competition is an inseparable part of the festival, and one of its hallmarks. The oldest and the most prestigious jazz competition in Poland is open for instrumentalists and singers who at the time of the festival are 35 or younger. From the very first year of the contest’s existence, it featured great musicians and stars of Polish jazz, including Włodzimierz Nahorny, Zbigniew Seifert, Ewa Bem, Krzesimir Dębski, Jarosław Śmietana, Janusz Strobel, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Tomasz Szukalski and Andrzej Zaucha. You can submit your application for the 2017 edition and have a chance at joining the laureates until March 31. Find out more about the Contest and read the rules (H E R E).
